Excerpts: "The project idea presents a proposal for adding variety to tourism in the area along the Bohinj Railway, which here means the line between Klagenfurt and Trieste.

The purpose of the project is to increase the role of railway traffic in tourism along this railway line. The goal is to introduce a modern tourist train on the Celovec – Villach – Jesenice – Lake Bled – Bohinjska Bistrica – Most na Soči – Nova Gorica – Štanjel – Villa Opicina – Trieste route, which will connect three countries, numerous tourist areas and a number of regions with very different climates and geographical features. The project idea consists of several mutually dependent sets of activities. The idea is not merely based on the introduction of a train, since support activities are also of key importance. The idea arose from a recognition of the extraordinary potentials of this railway line in tourism. After the celebration of the centenary of the line, awareness of its potentials is growing. Much has been done in the field of promotion. It has even been presented at the World Travel Market exhibition in London. On the ground, however, its potentials are very poorly exploited. Perhaps the time has come to start exploiting them.

With the development and realisation of the idea there will be an increase in mobility and the use of public transport, which has numerous positive effects."
