Ambicija projekta Mariboring je z nepričakovanim komuniciranjem spodbuditi turiste, nastanjene v živahnih turističnih središčih Slovenije, k enodnevnemu obisku (neznanega) Maribora.

Večina destinacij se na tržišču pozicionira kot najlepše, najboljše in sploh in oh, Maribor(ing) pa želi zabavati in presenečati s pozicije kontrapunkta - najbolj dolgočasno mesto na svetu.

Maribor je krasno malo mesto, ki ponuja vrhunska doživetja, kot so obisk Stare trte z degustacijo vin, vzpon na Pohorje z vzpenjačo in supanje na reki Dravi, kjer čas teče počasneje. Velja pa tudi za mesto, ki poleg narave ne nudi veliko aktivnosti in je navidez zaspano.

Tako se je v Mariboru rodila simpatična besedna igra #Mariboring, ki ki pa s seboj prinaša za turista, ki mesta ne pozna, nepričakovan preobrat. Maribor sploh ni dolgočasen!
