Turistični terminološki slovar TURS je nastal v okviru istoimenskega raziskovalnega projekta Turistični terminološki slovar Znanstveno-raziskovalnega središča Univerze na Primorskem (financer: ARRS, projektni partner: STO, nosilka: dr. Vesna Mikolič, 2008–2011). Do celotnega seznama slovarskih gesel uporabnik lahko pride prek programa ASPplus podjetja Amebis http://www.amebis.si/aspplus; na Amebisovem specializiranem slovarskem spletnem portalu Termania http://www.termania.net/slovarji/78/turisticni-terminoloski-slovar pa sta mogoča iskanje po posameznih iztočnicah in vseh sestavinah slovarskega sestavka, tudi po angleški prevodni ustreznici, in primerjava s pomenskimi razlagami v drugih slovarjih, objavljenih na istem spletnem portalu.

Pri nastajanju so sodelovali člani interdisciplinarne raziskovalne skupine UP ZRS, kot zunanji sodelavci pa so sodelovali strokovnjaki partnerske organizacije STO, Fakultete za turistične študije Turistice in Fakultete za humanistične študije Univerze na Primorskem.
